My Thoughts: Plus other Intresting Tidbits

So here it is. Plain and simple. Interesting information.

The current Republican Strategy for the economy: "Privatize the Profits, Socialize the Losses"

Now - Let's talk about what else is bothering me.

"From Each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs."

This is not Karl Marx. It simply is not. Yes, he USED this line in Critique of the Gotha Program but it was borrowed from Louis Blanc in 1840, who actually borrowed it from Henri de Saint Simon, whom I am sure got it from the Bible (YES, the BIBLE - see below). So - for the news anchor in Florida - get your friggin' facts right before you try and "gotcha politic" Biden. Here's the video:

Now - on to an extention of this quote of quotes........What does the BIBLE say about this???? Hmmmm...Let's see - there is the McCain/Palin ticket "claiming" to be the party of the religious - and in the same breath, screaming that Barack Obama is a "SOCIALIST!"...."SPREADS THE WEALTH AROUND."

ok. So. How do they reconcile those attacks with this???

The Acts of the Apostles:
Acts 2: 44-45
"All the believers continued together in close fellowship and shared their belongings with one another. They would sell their property and possessions, and distribute the money among all, according to what each one needed."
(Quoted from The Good News Bible Catholic Study Edition)

AND....

Acts 4: 34-35
"There was no one in the group who was in need. Those who owned fields or houses would sell them, bring the money recieved from the sale, and turn it over to the apostles; and the money was distributed to each one according to his need."
(Quoted from The Good News Bible Catholic Study Edition)

Sounds to me like the word of God is being ignored by the right. and truly....Jesus was a Socialist....a Marxist.

I say this because the "chief purpose [of Acts] is to tell how Jesus' early followers, led by the Holy Spirit spread the Good News about him..." and that "The Acts of the Apostles is a CONTINUATION (emphasis added) of The Gospel according to Luke." >(Quoted from The Good News Bible Catholic Study Edition)

So Republicans - be sure to check where you REALLY stand. Do you stand with Jesus (and Barack) or do you stand with McCain?

Peace.Love.Live.

I think Joe Biden has "foot in mouth disease" a lot of the time, but I have to say, I love him for his asking this woman "is that a real question?"

I agree. The WTF look on his face was priceless!

Your quotes from the Bible miss the point...these are individuals associating in a church (or the equivalent thereof for the times). NOT A GOVERNMENT THAT TAKES FROM THE PEOPLE!!!

Jesus supported capitalism--just check out MT 25:14-28 (His own words):
14 "Again, it [the kingdom of God] will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. 15 To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. 17 So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. 18 But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.
19 "After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.'

21 "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'

22 "The man with the two talents also came. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.'

23 "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'

24 "Then the man who had received the one talent came. 'Master,' he said, 'I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.'

26 "His master replied, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

28 " 'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. 29 For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

Ahhhh...the seeds of capitalism...

God gives to people different levels of responsibility by design. It is not the place of government to try to "even out the disparities"...governments cannot...God's will is ever triumphant. All attempts fail, for even in the most socialistic societies, there are some better off than others...there is no such thing as equality of result. It is up to the individual acting in accordance to God's will (the doctrine of free will) not coercion of a government that is intended to alleviate this disparity. According to 2Cor 9:6-8,

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

What the people on the left who are believers focus on is the ideals of later verses in Chapter 25...

31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. [NOTICE--GOATS ON THE LEFT!!]
34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44 "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

The "religious left" that believes in "economic and social justice" (read socialism) misrepresents this. THIS IS INSTRUCTION FOR INDIVIDUAL ACTION!!!

What simply slays me is how anyone can use statistics or quotes to support his or her own agenda. We twist words and meanings to feel as though we have a leg to stand on in our own beliefs and principles when in actuality if we have beliefs and principles, why the hell are we looking for support for same from a third party?

Really ... there's nothing wrong with knowing what you believe and sticking with it.

I believe in Santa, people, and screw you if you try and tell me otherwise (she says, trying desperately to add a bit of levity to a blog post gone far too seriously awry.)

Well Jimmy - this only proves the Bible can support almost anything you want it to.

Thanks for the enormous blog post (not a comment for sure).

So, truly - we disagree yet again - should I be offended now?
